Open Penumbra
Launch Penumbra from your Dalamud plugin menu.
Penumbra is installed — now get it ready to use. This guide walks you through the initial setup, from your mod directory to collections, assignments and mod settings.
Follow this quick path to get Penumbra ready for your first mod.
Launch Penumbra from your Dalamud plugin menu.
Choose or verify where your Penumbra mods are stored.
Choose the collection you want to use for your mods.
Assign your collection, enable a mod and verify it in game.
The mod directory is the location Penumbra uses to store and manage imported mods. Make sure the selected folder is accessible and located somewhere you intend to keep.
Avoid repeatedly moving or renaming your Penumbra mod directory after your setup is working.
Collections let you organize which mods are active together. You can keep one main collection or create separate collections for different characters, appearances or purposes.
If a mod is installed but does not appear in game, check that it is enabled in the collection currently being used.
After choosing a collection, make sure it is assigned where you expect it to be used. Assignments tell Penumbra which collection should apply in a particular context.
Choose the collection you want to use.
Set the appropriate assignment.
Confirm the expected mods are active.
Once a mod is imported, enable it in the collection you are using. Some mods also include configurable options that let you choose different variants or features.
Make sure the mod is turned on for your active collection.
Choose any available options supplied by the mod.
When multiple enabled mods affect the same game files, Penumbra uses mod priority to determine which result takes precedence.
You normally only need to adjust priority when two enabled mods modify the same files.
Open TroubleshootingBefore adding more mods, confirm that your basic Penumbra setup is working correctly.
